Welcome to SwissCHI–the Portal to HCI Research in Switzerland!
Human-Computer Interaction Research
“HCI manages innovation to ensure that human values and human priorities are advanced, and not diminished through new technology. This is what created HCI; this is what led HCI onto and then off the desktop; it will continue to lead HCI to new regions of technology-mediated human possibility.”
John M. Carroll
“Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is a multidisciplinary field of study focusing on the design of computer technology and, in particular, the interaction between humans (the users) and computers. While initially concerned with computers, HCI has since expanded to cover almost all forms of information technology design.”

ACM SIGCHI
“SIGCHI Chapters are collections of people that are associated with SIGCHI who share a common location. Chapters are always geographical but may have a specific topic of emphasis. Similar to SIGCHI communities, chapters are groups of people, who, by banding together, can speak with a common voice within SIGCHI; can more effectively organize the activities that are of interest to them; and can obtain services that support their activities.”

SwissCHI
SwissCHI aims at bringing the existing scholar capitals together from the research groups and institutes in Switzerland, from the departments of computer science, psychology, art, and design to ultimately enhance the global standing of HCI research in Switzerland to a pioneering level. This will be accomplished by making accessible information surrounding the academic activities of the relevant groups as well as creating occasions for social interaction and exchange of expertise and experiences.
